How does matching work?

Your resume is parsed into a structured profile covering skills, experience years, career level, and job family. Each listing has its requirements extracted, including required level and job family. Your profile is then scored against each job on skills, domain and the must-haves in the posting, and jobs are sorted into Apply Now, Apply with Strategy, or Not Yet.

What do the job result buckets mean?

Every job in your results is sorted into one of three groups. Apply Now means a strong match where your skills and experience align well with the role. Apply with Strategy means a good fit with gaps to address in your cover letter. Not Yet means significant gaps, worth revisiting once you have closed them.

Why should I use MyCareerLevel when general AI or LLMs already exist?

General AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) are conversational engines built for open-ended text. They aren't built to operate as job search infrastructure. Using a raw LLM requires you to manually hunt down job postings, clean up messy HTML, copy-paste your resume repeatedly, and invent complex prompts for every single role. MyCareerLevel replaces that entire manual loop with an automated system that aggregates, parses, and scores active listings.

Why can't I just paste my resume and a job link into an AI prompt to get a match score?

Because a raw text prompt evaluates a job description in total isolation. A general AI tool looks at one posting in a vacuum. It has no visibility into the broader job market, or how that role compares to every other opening that matches your preferences. MyCareerLevel benchmarks your profile across multiple listings simultaneously, giving you a ranked view of where your effort is best spent.

Because a general LLM re-reads and re-judges from scratch every time. MyCareerLevel separates reading from scoring: the reading happens once and is stored, while scoring is arithmetic calculated over those stored values against a rubric whose weights are the same for every user. Same resume, same job, same result tomorrow. Not because no model is involved, but because the model's reading is done once and preserved.

Why is a structured rubric better than an AI prompt I write myself?

Because a rubric constrains what gets written for you. Instead of unguided text generation, your interview prep is fed your specific match score, strongest dimensions, and weakest areas, flagging the exact gaps an interviewer will probe. Furthermore, our resume generator runs an evidence check: every claim in a rewritten bullet must trace back to your own resume, or it is dropped rather than invented on your behalf. A custom prompt offers neither check.

Why does MyCareerLevel tell me some roles are not worth applying to yet?

Because our evaluation gate is two-sided and objective: a role reaches Apply Now only if both your overall score and your must-have skill pass rates clear set floor thresholds. A Not Yet status doesn't mean never. It names the skill gaps so you can address them and re-evaluate down the road.

Yes. The Browse Jobs page is fully public with no account required. You can search by job title or keyword, filter by Job Family, Job Level, Location Type, and Job Type, and read full job descriptions. To save jobs, or to get cover letters, interview prep and recommended resumes, a free account is required.

How does the cover letter generator work?

Your cover letter is drafted for each job from your resume and that job description, referencing the requirements in the posting and the experience in your resume. Writing it is available on every plan, Free included. Downloading it as a file is available on Pro and Power.

MyCareerLevel offers 3 plans. Free Trial at no cost: 5 total scans. Professional at $19.99 per month: 15 job scans per month. Power User at $34.99 per month: 60 job scans per month. Paid plans add downloading documents as files, CSV export, and Apply Now on your scan results.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Plans are month to month and do not auto-renew, nothing recurring is set up, your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for and then your account returns to Free, with your history and saved jobs kept. No action needed, nothing to cancel.
